Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter, Trenton Mayor Douglas Palmer and Congresswoman Allyson Schwartz all introduced Clinton to the approximately 1000 people in Drexel’s Main Building April 11.
The event highlighted Clinton’s position on “urban issues” including crime and the economy according to the speech.
“You can’t have a strong America without having strong cities and suburbs,” Palmer said.
Drexel University President Constantine Papadakis opened the event by saying “Drexel is committed to give our students real world experience and enhance what we learn in the classroom,â€
“As part of Drexel Votes 2008, we look forward to hosting more events involving all sides of the political spectrum.†Papadakis added.
Triangle Assistant News Editor and politics junkie Steph Takach covered the Clinton event and got a response from Obama’s spokesman Adora Andy: “We don’t react based on Sen. Clinton’s schedule,” Andy said.

OK, Obama’s spokesperson,Adora Andy…If you “don’t react based on Senator Clinton’s schedule”, how about a reaction based on the pressing needs of our urban communities looking for answers to elevated crime stats, high student drop out rates and increasing unemployment figures? I do feel Senator Obama should have a reaction to these issues…Yes? No?
